Leh - Ladakh

Schedule

On arrival at the Kushok Bakula Rimpochhe Airport in Leh (11,562 feet), the land of brave hearts, you will be met by our representative, who will accompany you to your transfer to your hotel for check-in. Due to the rapid arrival at the high altitude of Leh, it is recommended that you relax the entire day in order to acclimatize to the conditions. The hotel will provide dinner.

Following breakfast, continue to the Indus Valley Monastery Tour, which includes Shey Monastery, Sindhu Ghat, and Thiksey Monastery, an amazing edifice rising layer upon layer on a hill above the settlement and commonly known as Rancho’s School. Lunch will be served at the hotel. You may shop for your loved ones at the Shanti Stupa and the Leh Market.

After an early breakfast, we drive to Nubra Valley over the Khardung-la-Pass, the world’s highest motorable road at 18,380 feet. The Nubra Valley is located in northern Ladakh, between the Karakoram and Ladakh Himalayan ranges. Visit the Samstaling Monastery and the Sand Dunes after checking in at the camp. A camel ride on the famous Bactrian camel, known for its double hump, is available here (at an additional cost). You may also go to a cultural presentation where the locals perform their traditional dances if you like (at your own cost). Return to the campsite for dinner.

After breakfast, continue to the Diskit Monastery and the Hunder Sand Dunes, where you may go on a camel safari (on your own) on a double-humped Bactrian camel. Later, we go to Leh through Khardung La. In the afternoon, you may rest and unwind or go for a visit to the nearby market. Enjoy your supper at the hotel.

Following an early breakfast, we depart for Pangong Lake (about 145 km/5 hours away) across the Changlangla pass at 5486 meters. Pangong Lake, located at 14,000 feet (4,267 meters), is a long, narrow interior drainage basin that is just six to seven kilometers wide at its widest point and more than 130 kilometers long. The international boundary between India and China cuts it in half. Enjoy the panorama in the lake’s backdrop; one seldom feels so close to nature and the surroundings, and the scenery is memorable. The evening is free. Enjoy a local meal at your campsite.

After breakfast, wake up to a great morning by the lake and explore its beauty. You then travel back to Leh. The famed Hemis Monastery will be visited on the way to Leh. The rest of the day is free for recreation. Have a nice meal at the hotel.

On your final morning in Ladakh, have breakfast at the hotel before heading to the airport to return home with memories of fascinating Ladakh.
